A Trip to Kansas

Allyson made her very first trip to Kansas this past week. On New Years eve we left at 6:30am and drove to Topeka and made very good time, 12 and half hours with the time change. Allyson was a super traveler. She slept for maybe two hours of the whole trip down. We arrived at 8:00checked into our hotel and went to Olive Garden for dinner. Despite how tired and cranky she was from a long day of sitting she did well and flirted with the buss boy who was clearing off the table next to ours, as we prepared to leave. We arrived back at the hotel by 9 and we all went to bed. Everyone was exhausted. The following day we went to my cousin Stephanie's home and visited all day long. I had long hopes Allyson would nap and stay on schedule. However that just wasn't the case at all. She feared she would miss too much crying to hysterics. She wasn't even interestested in eating for much of the day. She wanted to play with her 3rd cousins Pike, who recently turned two and Campbell and Emma who are both 4. She had fun trying to play chase though she was always the one behind. She even rolled a ball back and forth with Pike and his daddy. Day two it was determined to leave early apparently on part due to the lack of hotel service we had and part due to the fact people were leaving town that day. So after more visiting we hit up the Kansas Sampler again to grab some gear. During which most of the time Allyson slept though while I carried her around the store for about 20 minutes. She never did fall back asleep until 7:30 during the drive back home. We were able to stop in Lawrence though at the University of Kansas. We had to get a picture of Allyson with the best mascot in the world!

While there Allyson kept calling Grandpa Hymer, daddy which was interesting so we worked on trying to say Grandpa, but we at least have the paaw part down! I was just glad she didn't say daddy when the weird stranger at the quick trip approached my dad and I and asked (my dad) how old his daughter was! I about died of horror with that one as he inferred Allyson to be his daughter. Everywhere we went in Kansas someone stoped to talk to us about Allyson. She was loved by strangers. We would have people come and talk to us while we tried to eat a meal.

Allyson got to enjoy her first kid meal from no place other than a Sonic, after all its not a trip to Kansas with out many stops at sonic along the way. She loved her waky pack food! Glad we have one nearby now and we dont have to travel out of state to get good food. :)

Pictures to come shortly.
